The Paraclete Center opened in 1992 as a place where the children of South Boston could continue their education and studies in a diverse learning environment during their after-school hours. I have found this convent-turned-after-school-program a unique and precious combination of people and ideas, love and support, service and need. It offers the children who attend the opportunity to receive a promising education — the Center focuses on helping the children to prepare for the entry exams required to attend some of the best Boston public schools. And it is a wonderful thing to be a part of an organization dedicated to serving the needs of these children, committed to helping them change their futures. And it has been amazing for me, as a constant reminder of life outside the Conservatory, to be working in and bringing music to such a place.
