NEC Announces $2.6 Million Daniel Steiner Presidential Endowment Fund
Ginny and Pete Nicholas greet Daniel Steiner
Friends, family, and colleagues of Daniel Steiner, retiring President of New England Conservatory, have inaugurated a presidential endowment fund in his name to celebrate the achievements of Steiner’s seven-year tenure at NEC. The fund, already pegged at more than $2.6 million, was unveiled as a surprise gift to Steiner during a festive dinner for donors and board leadership on May 4 at NEC’s Brown Hall.
Steiner, who announced last year that he would step down due to poor health, is being honored at several farewell events including a faculty/staff party held in April and a New York gala on May 11 which will inaugurate an annual series of scholarship fundraisers in the Big Apple.
The new Presidential Endowment was established to provide discretionary funds for the president of NEC.
